Social responsibility
Why businesses must be a pillar of a policy of solidarity with society.
Businesses' commitment to solidarity
Technology companies have transformed the world through innovation, but their responsibility cannot be limited to generating revenue and paying taxes. Although taxes should, in theory, translate into improvements for society, the reality is that these resources often do not reach those who need them most or are dissipated in ineffective systems, not to mention the resources that are wasted.
Technology companies therefore have the opportunity — and the moral obligation — to take a more active role in social wellbeing, contributing directly to charitable causes that have a tangible impact.
One of the most effective ways to do this is by participating in charity events and working with NGOs already operating on the ground. These organisations have the knowledge and infrastructure to channel resources efficiently, ensuring they reach those who truly need them. Moreover, technology companies' involvement in these events not only provides funding, but also harnesses their capacity for innovation to improve logistics, education or access to digital tools in vulnerable communities.
Beyond financial donations, companies can have a positive impact on society through corporate volunteering programmes, free digital skills training and the development of technological solutions with a social purpose. These actions not only strengthen the relationship between businesses and communities but also create a more equitable, sustainable ecosystem. In a world where technology plays a central role in people's lives, it is essential for companies in the sector to assume their responsibility and actively contribute to building a fairer society.
IERTEC and its commitment to solidarity
IERTEC was among the sponsors of the second community charity race organised by Cruz Roja in Jerez de la Frontera. This year, thanks to the solidarity of local businesses, the charity race was held for the second time, attracting more than 400 participants.
IERTEC works with organisations such as Save the Children, Cruz Roja and Unicef, and has actively supported others, including Hogar San Juan and Andex.
We are part of the future.
