meDex: Interoperability without limits
meDex connects information sources to any endpoint, validating, normalising and transforming the information.
meDex: interoperability to connect the health and social care ecosystem
Connecting clinical systems, telecare services, APIs and IoT and IoMT devices requires different technologies to be able to exchange information. meDex addresses this challenge with technology-agnostic end-to-end connectivity and an N:N architecture, designed to link multiple sources and destinations without point-to-point integrations. The platform brings these environments together in a governed ecosystem, from the medical record to the device in the home, incorporating monitoring, cybersecurity and data quality into the exchange.
Its operation is organised into six stages: reception, cybersecurity, validation, normalisation, transformation and distribution. Along this path, signals are received and protected, information quality is checked, a common language is established and data is adapted to the format required by the destination. The result is a flow that transforms heterogeneous information into interoperable data and delivers it to the right place, following a single principle: connect, normalise and distribute.

Connect · Normalise · Distribute
meDex's multiprotocol architecture incorporates standards and technologies such as HL7 FHIR, HL7 v2, DICOM, IEEE 11073, SCAIP, MQTT, AMQP and REST APIs. Its capabilities include more than 200 protocols, over 150 connectors and support for more than 30 database engines, with over 40 million data items analysed each week. Interoperability plugins further extend the possibilities for connecting health and social care systems, devices and other information sources.
Security accompanies the entire process through access controls, strengthened authentication, traceability and operational continuity, with an approach aligned with Spain's National Security Framework (ENS). The solution also encompasses Oracle's European sovereign cloud and protection of data confidentiality and integrity. In this way, meDex combines connectivity with exchange governance so that systems, services and devices become part of the same technological conversation, with controlled management of shared information.
