An advanced aerial solution for detecting critical variables in fires
IERTEC SMART TECHNOLOGIES has developed ADVACI, a research and development project focused on designing and validating an unmanned aerial system for detecting, acquiring and analysing critical variables associated with forest fires and vegetation condition.
The solution combines a fixed-wing aerial platform with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capability, a multispectral payload comprising RGB, NIR and thermal cameras, on-board processing capabilities and a ground-based GIS platform for visualising and making use of the information obtained.
Throughout the project, IERTEC has worked on the structural design and integration of the aerial platform, development of the control and acquisition system, integration of sensors and communications, on-board data processing and creation of ground-based visualisation and analysis tools.
The system covers the complete information cycle, from data acquisition and processing in flight to transmission and visualisation, with the aim of providing useful information for decision-making in scenarios involving fires and land management.
ADVACI (Design and development of an aircraft for detecting critical variables in fires) has received support from the European Union under the Andalusia ERDF Programme 2021–2027.
Co-funded by the European Union.
