Energy harvesting with Linear Technology and Würth Electronics

On Wednesday 27 January, COLABSOFT attended a seminar in Madrid delivered by Würth Electronics and Linear Technology on energy harvesting and wireless charging.
Energy harvesting is an emerging field that makes it possible to obtain energy from various sources, such as solar, electromagnetic, kinetic and thermodynamic energy. Linear Technology, a pioneer in manufacturing energy-harvesting systems, already has an extensive range of products designed to convert these natural resources into energy usable by small devices.
Through Alain Lafuente, Würth Electronics also explained how to design efficient wireless or inductive charging systems, a technology increasingly implemented in devices and small appliances that are becoming more common in homes.
Inductive charging uses two electronic circuits with coils, one transmitting and the other receiving. One coil emits alternating current that induces a specific voltage received by the other, which then regulates the voltage and current received to transfer energy to the device (mobile phone, tablet, cameras, etc.).
We are currently working on a wearable device whose energy source is precisely a natural resource: dynamics and biomechanics. The system has an ultra-low-power circuit that will harness these energy sources to operate autonomously, WITHOUT BATTERIES and without a time limit.
