During the second half of 2023, the Government of the Canary Islands approved six projects from various traders' associations in municipalities on different islands, known as ‘ECOMM PROJECTS’.

These projects introducing new technologies have enabled local retail SMEs within the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, specifically in the municipalities of Tacoronte, San Sebastián de la Gomera, El Hierro, Hermigua, Alajeró and La Aldea, to respond to new consumption habits, supporting the digital transformation and sustainability of both their establishments and business models. This technology was developed by IERTEC through the ATOMS tool.

ATOMS seeks specific solutions to help businesses face today's challenges in a highly competitive environment. The initiative stems from a deep understanding of the challenges businesses currently face in terms of the resources and technology needed to reach customers and improve their shopping experience. To achieve this goal, the project has focused on digitising the retail offering and improving the customer experience through innovative technologies, the creation of digital platforms and the adoption of new marketing and sales strategies.

The project also seeks to generate valuable information on demand profiles so that businesses can better understand their customers and adapt their retail offering to their needs and wishes. This information will support complementary commercial initiatives that energise the sector and generate greater economic growth.

In short, the project seeks specific solutions to help businesses tackle current challenges by digitising the retail offering and improving the customer experience, as well as generating valuable information on demand to adapt that offering and stimulate the sector.
